Best Organic Sugaring in San Diego

I don’t know where I have been living, but I am just now discovering Sugaring?! Sugaring is nothing new, as this has been how many removed unwanted hair, even the Egyptians way back when. Basically, in simple terms, Sugaring is a way to remove face and body hair, similar, but much safer than, waxing! By heating up just Organic Cane Sugar, Lemon Juice & Water, a sticky, honey, putty-like paste is formed, that is then applied straight to the skin, wherever you’d like to remove the hair. This method of hair removal is much safer because it’s far less damaging to the skin, doesn’t involve super hot wax on your skin, still performs the exact same way waxing does and it’s so natural, you can literally eat it!

I have never waxed or done any serious hair removal before so, this was a whole new experience for me! I was super nervous, scared it would hurt and unsure what the results would be, however, I left pleasantly surprised and super happy with my super soft, hairless new skin! Because I try and only use Organic beauty products, finding an Organic Sugaring studio was really important to me! I found Cleo Sugaring in La Jolla which turns out to be the only place in San Diego that is truly entirely Organic, sign me up!

To break it down a bit more for you, here are some bullet points on how it works!

T3 Whirl Trio Review

I love curly hair which is why this year I asked Santa for the T3 Micro Whirl Trio convertible curling iron. Not only is this iron the cutest thing ever, hello bright white and rose gold combo, it’s also one of the best irons I’ve ever used! I typically avoid clipless curling irons because they’re not the best for easy everyday use, however, I definitely will be using this iron more often now that I see how easy it is to use- Simply click in the barrel of your choice, turn on and go!

I was spoiled by Santa as this T3 Whirl Trio comes with three interchangeable barrels- A 1″ straight barrel, a 1.25″ tapered barrel and lastly, a 1.5″ straight barrel which probably will be my favorite of the bunch as I love bigger, more glam curls. In the photo above I used the 1.25″ tapered barrel which gave me a super tight perfect curl with lots of bounce! I had not finished my hair yet as I stopped to do the rest on Periscope so please forgive the unfinished look here. This also comes with barrels that have clips as well, so, if you want just a basic curling iron barrel, they have that too!

Kiss frizzy hair goodbye thanks to these super cute, eco-chic hair wraps by Hubalou! Have no fear, these are amazing for all hair types, as everyone can benefit from damage and frizz free hair right!? I have pin straight hair and really do love these for drying my hair each day.

Prim Botanicals Review

One of my all-time favorite beauty products has to be hair oil, and after learning about how damaging my beloved Morrocan Oil is, I was desperately in need of a much cleaner alternative. Before I tell you more about my safer swap, I would like to take a second to talk about why products like MorrocanOil are so damaging for us. While most people probably assume that these products are simply natural oils that nourish and tame our wild tresses, the ingredients of these products are anything but.

So, what’s really inside MoroccanOil’s hair products? Take a peek!

  • D&C Red-17– This is used as a colorant and is considered a class 3 carcinogen. You should avoid all products with this ingredient in it, at all times. Skin absorption has been seen.
  • Parabens– These preservatives may cause healthy cells to grow and survive like cancerous cells and can also be found in various breast tumors. Parabens are also endocrine disruptors with multiple links to allergic reactions.
  • Fragrances– A combination of over 3,000 fragrances can be added to our beauty products, which very often lead to hormone disruptions and allergic reactions.
  • Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone– This is added to leave a pleasant fragrance, however, this is toxic to aquatic organisms and can cause various allergic reactions.
  • Cyclomethicone– This is a silicone-based compound.
  • Coumarin– Used to increase aroma, this ingredient can lead to skin irritations or allergic reactions.
  • Behentrimonium Chloride– Another ingredient known to cause irritations to the skin.

Naturigin Hair Color Review

Did you know that conventional hair dyes contain damaging chemicals like ammonia, parabens, SLS and other harsh ingredients that wreak total havoc on your overall health and hair? It’s pretty much common sense to know that hair dyes aren’t the best for your hair, however, girls around the world, myself included, continue to turn a blind eye when it comes to this process. I never really knew exactly how bad this process was, but after researching it bit more, I discovered a few things you never want to expose your hair to.

Ingredients to Avoid in Hair Dye-

  • Ammonia– This is one of the worst offenders in the beauty industry.  Ammonia is added to hair color to force open the hair’s cuticle to deposit color, however, this can severely damage the cuticle creating dry, damaged hair. Ammonia is also highly toxic when inhaled, putting you and your stylist at risk.
  • Parabens– As we all know by now, parabens are the enemy. Found in just about every type of beauty product these days, hair dye is no exception. You never want to use products with parabens, as they are continuously being found in breast cancer tumors.
  • SLS– This stands for Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and it can be found in the majority of all hair care products today. Many researchers do believe there is a link between SLS and cancer, on top of it being known to cause major skin irritations, hormone imbalances, corrosion of the skin and allergies. There are many products labeled as ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ that still contain sulfates so you do want to double check for these before you buy.
