Quinn Organic Popcorn Review by theorganicbunny on June 11, 2015June 15, 2015 I’m not normally a popcorn fan, mostly because up to 93% of our corn is genetically engineered and sprayed heavily with chemicals, but when Quinn Popcorn contacted me asking if I would like to sample their Organic Popcorn I thought, hell yeahhh, I can finally eat popcorn again! I have tried a few of the Organic popcorns I have seen in the stores, however, most are pretty dry and plain so I never really bought them again. Not only is Quinn Popcorn Organic and non-GMO, their popcorn comes in so many delicious flavors it’s hard to pick a favorite! Besides making pre-bagged popcorn, Quinn also makes microwave popcorn, without all the scary chemical coatings and toxic plastic & metal bags. Because I refuse to use microwaves, I was happy to learn that these bags of organic corn kernels can also be popped the old fashioned way by using a pot and healthy oil of your choice. Read More
Prim Botanicals Review by theorganicbunny on June 5, 2015July 20, 2022 One of my all-time favorite beauty products has to be hair oil, and after learning about how damaging my beloved Morrocan Oil is, I was desperately in need of a much cleaner alternative. Before I tell you more about my safer swap, I would like to take a second to talk about why products like MorrocanOil are so damaging for us. While most people probably assume that these products are simply natural oils that nourish and tame our wild tresses, the ingredients of these products are anything but. So, what’s really inside MoroccanOil’s hair products? Take a peek! D&C Red-17– This is used as a colorant and is considered a class 3 carcinogen. You should avoid all products with this ingredient in it, at all times. Skin absorption has been seen. Parabens– These preservatives may cause healthy cells to grow and survive like cancerous cells and can also be found in various breast tumors. Parabens are also endocrine disruptors with multiple links to allergic reactions. Fragrances– A combination of over 3,000 fragrances can be added to our beauty products, which very often lead to hormone disruptions and allergic reactions. Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone– This is added to leave a pleasant fragrance, however, this is toxic to aquatic organisms and can cause various allergic reactions. Cyclomethicone– This is a silicone-based compound. Coumarin– Used to increase aroma, this ingredient can lead to skin irritations or allergic reactions. Behentrimonium Chloride– Another ingredient known to cause irritations to the skin. Read More
Woodroze Sunglasses by theorganicbunny on June 2, 2015June 2, 2015 Who doesn’t love a cute pair of coral mirrored sunglasses in preparation for the warmer Summer months rapidly approaching? And what’s to love even more about these cute sunglasses is that they are also eco-friendly and recyclable to ensure we are not polluting the Earth in the process of our cuteness. I recently came across this line of handcrafted, wood sunglasses by a company called Woodroze, and because I fell in love with so many of their unique designs, paired with their commitment to a happier planet, I just had to share them with you all today. A few of my favorite things about Woodroze: For every tree they cut down, three more are planted and left untouched. A portion of every sale goes to reef restoration in the Florida Keys. Their sunglass frames are made from Pine Trees. The glasses are extremely light weight, comfortable and very durable. They only use high-grade Italian optics and hinges on all styles. They make cute styles for both men & women! Read More
Best & Worst Sunscreens to Use by theorganicbunny on May 27, 2015May 27, 2015 Because Summer is rapidly approaching, I felt compelled to share this Sunscreen Hall of Shame list created by the Environmental Working Group as it exposes the worst, most unsafe sunscreens you may be using on yourself and families. Every single time I see someone getting sprayed down with a bottle of Banana Boat or Coppertone, I die a little inside because I know that most people simply aren’t aware of the toxins that really exist in these products. We use sunscreen because we are told it’s safe and what we should do, but, do you really know what you are applying to your skin in the hot sun? Here is what the EWG has found. There are a lot of sunscreens on the market: some good, some bad and then the shameful. Those in the last category are not only a waste of money and time, but also potentially harmful. Here are our picks for products to banish from your beach bag forever. Spray sunscreens can be inhaled, and they don’t cover your skin completely. SPF’s above 50+ trick you into thinking they prevent sun damage, they don’t. SPF protection tops out at 30 to 50. Oxybenzone can disrupt the hormone system. Retinyl Palmitate may trigger damage, possibly cancer. Read More

How to Whiten Teeth With Activated Charcoal by theorganicbunny on May 20, 2015May 21, 2015 I love a nice, bright white smile, what I don’t love, however, are the crazy chemicals that most conventional teeth whiteners come with. While many dentists will tell you that the teeth whitening process is safe, I personally avoid it for various reasons, here’s why: I have super sensitive teeth so bleaching really hurts me. Bleach can enter unknown cracks or cavities, further damaging nerves, which may result in a you needing a root canal. The bleaches are so strong, they can easily chemically burn your gums, skin, or tongue. Teeth whiteners contain potential carcinogens, which enter gums and mouth. Some whiteners contain chlorine dioxide which can destroy the enamel on your teeth. Chlorine dioxide is used to disinfect swimming pools and whitens teeth by eating away at the surface of the enamel. Even OTC whitening toothpaste comes with risks. Many contain Polyethylene Glycol, a carcinogen known for disrupting hormones with links to breast cancer. Many whiteners also contain Sodium Flouride, which despite what we’ve been told, has various negative effects and is considered a neurotoxin. Read More

What’s Really in NARS Lip Gloss? by theorganicbunny on May 2, 2015 NARS lipgloss used to be some of my favorite glosses, that was until I learned about what was really inside of them. Several NARS lip glosses contain various chemicals that should never be used! Check out what’s really in these! What’s Really in NARS Lip Glosses? Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate- AÂ known and studied endocrine disruptor that affects estrogen and thyroid activity, with various links to breast cancer. This ingredient should never ever be applied to skin, especially on lips that lead to accidental consumption. Red 30 Lake- A synthetic dye considered to be a Class 3 carcinogen. Polyethylene- A non-biodegradable microplastic. While these glosses are beautiful, you couldn’t pay me to use them anymore, especially knowing there are just as pretty lip glosses on the market without this junk in them. Some clean lipgloss lines to check out instead: FITGLOW BEAUTY, ILIA Beauty, Vapour Organic Beauty, or Gabriel Cosmetics. Help me spread this info, share this with a friend who could use this info! xo Read More
Cinnamon Honey Paleo Bars by theorganicbunny on April 30, 2015 I had a girl tell me she loved my blog today, up until I posted a paleo recipe. This left me perplexed because Paleo is really just another word for healthy? While I do not eat entirely Paleo, I wish I had that will power, I do think it’s an awesome concept to eat primarily fruits, veggies, nuts, lean meats etc… so, there you have it, my Paleo stance. Anyway, this recipe was given to me by a friend, and after loving the bars she gave me I had to make them again for myself. These bars are super easy to make and, of course, very healthy for you. Because there are so many nuts in this mix, feel free to use the nuts you prefer instead of the ones I used, simply swap in or out whatever nuts you’d like. -Cinnamon Honey Paleo Bars- Ingredients Used, all Organic: 1 cup Cashews 1 cup Almonds 1 cup Pecans 1/2 cup Sunflower Seeds 10 Tbsp Raw Honey 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds 1/2 Tsp Sea Salt 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon 1 Tsp Vanilla 1/2 Unsweetened Coconut (I did not have) Other optional add-ins: Goji Berries, Cacao Nibs, Dried Fruit… Read More
