Aleavia Skin Care Review Skin Care by theorganicbunny on March 18, 2015April 9, 2019 For as long as I can remember I have had problems finding a shampoo that did not leave my scalp itchy and irritated. I always thought that it was something I was eating, but after reading more about what is in my beauty products, I realized that it was definitely an ingredient in my shampoo that was causing my irritation. Because I love/want/need a good lathering shampoo, I was sad to learn that what allows my favorite Acure Organics shampoo to lather, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, actually could be the cause of my scalp irritation. While the Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate in Acure Organics shampoo is naturally derived from coconuts, because of the high amounts, it can pose a threat to those with a sensitive scalp. The risks associated with this ingredient are low, the only issue really being that it is a detergent that can irritate sensitive scalps causing scalp psoriasis or eczema. If you do have a sensitive scalp, check your shampoo for Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, as either could be the cause of your irritation. So now that we are all having to ditch all our old shampoos, what should we use instead? Well, for a while I didn’t have a solution. I would simply use less of the shampoo on my scalp and hope for the best, which never worked. And then it happened, I came across an organic line called Aleavia which claimed to be 100% organic, prebiotic and known for it’s amazing ability to clear up acne, rosacea, eczema, dry skin and psoriasis, all while helping balance your skin’s PH level. I checked out Aleavia products online and was very happy to see ingredients that are actually super powerful and beneficial to your skin, unlike other skin care lines that are packed full of chemicals and toxins that harm more than they help. The Aleavia products are all alkaloid based bio-stimulants, which means they feed the friendly microorganisms on your skin, causing healthy bacteria to flourish. The increase in healthy bacteria activity levels completely overpowers any harmful bacteria, eliminating skin disorders of many types. Aleavia has a handful of awesome products to choose from, but the following are the ones I have tried out. Aleavia Immerse Prebiotic Soothing Body Wash- When the Aleavia Immerse Prebiotic Body Wash was first formulated, its purpose was simply a body wash that treated skin issues like eczema, dry skin, and psoriasis, however, after many individual experiments, people realized that it also made for an amazing shampoo for those with dry, irritated scalp issues. I use this body wash in three ways, 1. As a shampoo in attempts to restore my dry scalp 2. As a body wash and 3. As a shave gel. I love that this wash is 100% natural, lathers, and cleans really well, and can be used in so many different ways. I prefer the lavender scent over the unscented, but I know that many prefer unscented options as well. To use this body wash as shampoo, simply pour a good amount in your hand and begin washing. I make sure the water is really hot before I shampoo, causing my pores to open wide for the healthy treatment. I cover my entire scalp with the wash, making sure to really scrub and massage it into my scalp. Once I fully cover my scalp with the Prebiotic Body Wash, I then let it sit for 3-5 minutes and really saturate. After it sits, rinse as you normally would and follow up with your favorite conditioner on your ends. Avoid putting any conditioner on your scalp. You will find that once you rinse your hair from the wash, your hair feels very dry, however, it will bounce back with a little conditioner. Once I wash, condition and towel dry, I then follow up with the Restore Spray. Aleavia Restore Prebiotic Skin Restoration- This Aleavia Restore Spray spray was designed specifically to take unhealthy skin and restore it back to healthier conditions. Consisting of all natural ingredients, the Restore spray is one of my favorite items by Aleavia, as it really does soothe my dry scalp after each application. I have damaged my scalp over the years by using chemical infested shampoos and products, so this Restore spray really is essential in the repair process of my scalp. This spray is also great for those with rosacea, eczema, acne or scarring. How to Use Aleavia Restore Spray for a dry scalp- After I am done washing and conditioning my hair, I then towel dry my hair and apply the Restore Spray to my scalp. The Restore Spray works best if you section off your hair, spraying each irritated area thoroughly. I was worried that the spray would weigh my hair down, or leave it looking dirty, but that was not the case at all. I could not tell I sprayed anything on my scalp and within minutes my scalp was feeling much less irritated. I continued this treatment, exactly as stated above, for the past 2 weeks and I can honestly say that my scalp no longer itches like crazy and I can see a slight improvement in my scalp’s overall condition. Aleavia suggests that you use their products consistently for several weeks, so I will be back with a full update after more time passes. The Restore Spray does contain organic soy, so if you avoid soy products, this one won’t be for you. Aleavia Cleanse Prebiotic Neutralizing Facial Cleanser & Makeup Remover- Not only does Aleavia have an awesome body wash that doubles as a healing shampoo, but they also have an amazing facial cleanser that is by far one of the best I have come across. While I have had other favorite cleansers, none have really been perfect. The foaming cleansers I love are usually never entirely organic, and the entirely organic ones never work at all. The Aleavia Facial Cleanser is the best of both worlds, truly. Not only is this face wash 100% organic, it removes makeup quickly and entirely, all in one wash. It lathers awesome and really leaves your face feeling nice and clean while also delivering a subtle lavender scent from the essential oils. Overall this is an amazing line I will continue to use forever and ever; I love that it’s entirely organic and that it offers a real solution to the common skin issues that are a result of the harsh chemicals in our everyday products. If you would like to shop the Aleavia line you can visit my store here.
